S. M. Harrison was born in Manchester, England and has been involved in mediaeval re-enactment for over twenty-five years, firstly as a founding member and secretary of Jomsvikings and more recently as a member of The Frei Compagnie (the re-enactment arm of Towton Battlefield Society), as well as The Chosen Few, re-creating both mediaeval combat and civilian life. That experience is brought vividly to the pages of
S. M. Harrison's novels, bringing palpable realism to the towns, castles and battlefields of fifteenth century England during what is now known as The Wars of the Roses.
